Playmeaustin pianos!

For the month of April, art alliance austin has put out 16 pianos in very public places that encourage anyone and everyone to sit and play some music. I think it’s a great idea that other cities have enjoyed, but finally Austin gets a shot. Get out there and find them!

Murphy bridal portraits – Austin photographer

First off, apologies. I’m only allowed to post this crop of a shot because of the off-chance that the Mister reads my blog and sees photographs of his fiancee’s dress – and all know how well that would end up. Anyway. I got to shoot the bridal portraits for the Birck-Murphy wedding that will be going down in May, and though it’s currently only March, the heat is well on its way to Austin. It was warm and tiring, but with spirits high, and the beautiful AMOA Laguna Gloria as the setting, we had a successful shoot, and good times had!

“Save Texas Schools” rally

After reading up on the hubbub being caused by the legislature about cutting spending on schools (and indeed closing some), teachers, parents, and other supporters gathered on the steps of the Capitol this morning to stage a rally. It gave me an opportunity to practice some photojournalistic “f/8 and be there” shooting. It’s always fun!

Austin got some snow!

It may not look like much, but this was enough to pretty much shut half the city down. Other than (literally) getting stuck on the side of the road, we enjoyed a nice snow day in. Keeping warm and all that.

And then there was music. And dancing.

That’s right. Despite my embarrassment glands, and general sheepishness, one cannot but find their toes-a-tappin’ and body-a-boogyin’ when operating a photobooth in the middle of a packed house with thumping tunes blaring! Good times were had, and the event was covered. Huzzah!
